CALVIN
TESTIMONIAL
3/27/03
Calvin Presbyterian
Church has partnered with Bridge Ministries for over seven years.
During that time our main contact has been to host two dinners each
year. These dinners have blended over 110 guests from Bridge ministries
and volunteers from Calvin in a special celebration of life. Our
responsibilities as host church have included serving dinner, hosting
tables, set-up and clean-up, and a program of some kind. Our Bell
Choir and Praise Ensemble have provided music at these events, Winnie
the Pooh has shown up, and we have encouraged sharing from the Bridge
Ministry guests. Even our children have been involved, through making
Valentine center pieces for each table.
Each event begins
with prayer and is a blessing to all involved. We at Calvin have
learned from our Bridge guests more about what it means to be made
in the image of God. In the smiles, laughter, sharing, praying,
and eating together with people we would not normally have much
contact with, we have experienced the love of Christ and been challenged
to express that love ourselves.
Many thanks
to Bridge Ministries, not only for what they do with those who have
physical or developmental disabilities, but for reminding those
of us who do not have those particular difficulties of the needs
and gifts of those who do. The bigger picture which Bridge Ministries
presents us with is truly a ministry to us, and we thank God for
it.
If you would
like to learn more about Calvin’s experience with Bridge Ministries,
please feel free to contact Chris Chase, our Lay Associate. He will
be more than happy to share with you the blessings of a partnership
with Bridge Ministries.
